“I raise up my voice—not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard…we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.” ―Malala Yousafzai”
Face hidden away,
She dreams of freedom,
Each and every day.
Her only companion is a pen in hand,
Scribbling her thoughts down,
She wonders aloud,
Will she ever escape this town?
Now you see, the fault isn’t within her,
She loves her home as much as the other,
Yet he was given freedom,
While she was told to stay at home with her mother.
I say to her and all her comrades,
Fear not the shackles of this age,
We will empower ourselves till the end,
And I promise, this is a war to be waged!
